G30 2016-12-09 Oilers styled and profiled by the Wild

Game Notes MIN vs EDM

Edmonton Oilers (Head Coach: Todd McLellan) at Minnesota Wild (Head Coach: Bruce Boudreau)

NHL Game #408, Xcel Energy Center, 2016-12-09 06:00:00PM (GMT -0700)

Wild 3-2 (SO)

Referees: Tim Peel, Trevor Hanson
Linesmen: Mark Wheler, Scott Driscoll

Three Stars: Eric Staal; Devan Dubnyk; Jason Zucker

  • Whole team better buy Talbot a drink after this one. He got them the point. The stats suggest a slight edge 5v5 by the Oilers, but I saw an awful lot of brilliant Talbot saves tucked in there.
  • I hate watching the Wild. Is it OK to say that? I really hate them. Doesn’t seem to matter who’s coaching them, they’re painful to watch.
  • Dubie is 8-1 against his old team? You don’t say.
  • Truth be told, I didn’t think it was a *bad* game overall by the Oilers at 5 on 5, and the numbers seem to bear this out. But man did we get our show run in OT. Given the Wild’s reputation as a shutdown defensive team and the Oilers skill, that shouldn’t happen, should it?
