NEW! Head to head charts for Corsi, Danger Adjusted Fenwick, and Time On Ice. Also experimenting with showing ‘average unblocked shot distance allowed’ for defensemen (individuals and pairs).
- I’m not even gonna.
Game at a Glance
|CF%||SACF%||FF%||DFF%||SF%||Avg Dist F||Avg Dist A||RelDist%|
(Note: “Danger” is my calculation of how dangerous this shot is relative to an average shot, given shot type and distance. This is the number used in “Danger Adjusted Fenwick” below and in the chart above)
Shot Type and Distance
SA, SF, SF% – Shots For, Against, %; DIST F, A – Average shot distance for and against; REB F, A – rebound shots for and against.
The average MTL shot was from 38 ft away, while the Oilers shots averaged 38 ft away – identical. The histograms below show the breakdown by distance range.
Even Strength / Shot Count and Distances (ft)
|For||7 / 31.1||3 / 48.7||7 / 40.0||1 / 37.0||–||–||–|
|Against||6 / 29.8||3 / 59.0||8 / 43.1||1 / 7.0||–||–||1 / 12.0|
All Situations / Shot Count and Distances (ft)

|Against||7 / 29.0||3 / 59.0||8 / 43.1||1 / 7.0||–||–||2 / 10.5|
Distance of Unblocked Shots Allowed
I’m trying out a new data display – showing the average distance of shot allowed and average ‘danger rating’ and Danger Fenwick rate per 60 for the defensemen and defensive pairings. Interesting fact – the TOI for the defensemen is directly correlated with how good they were at preventing dangerous shots against.
I dropped pairings with less than 2:00 min TOI.
|A. Sekera D. Nurse||12:35||12:29||19.2||45.1||0.6|
|Klef B. Davidson||10:30||10:30||21.7||39.0||1.0|
|Ference E. Gryba||10:23||10:10||49.6||29.7||1.4|
|A. Sekera M. Fayne||04:46||03:57||38.0||7.0||2.5|
|D. Nurse Klef||02:35||01:38||14.7||48.0||0.4|

Player Head to Head Charts
Note: all of the previous tables of Fenwick and Corsi, along with breakdowns of players, defensive pairings, and forward lines is now embedded in the game summary CSV downloaded at the bottom of the page. Instead, I’ll simply be publishing the head to head time, Corsi, and Danger Fenwick charts.
Data for Download
Includes the information above, plus Corsi, Fenwick, shift summaries, player times and WOWYs, data for head to head, etc. There are four CSV files in the zip file:
