G10 2015-10-27 Edmonton at Minnesota – Shot and Distance Data

NEW! Head to head charts for Corsi, Danger Adjusted Fenwick, and Time On Ice.

I’ll be continuing to refine the format and presentation of this page. Feedback and suggestions welcome.

Comments:

  • Not much to say.  Apart from the occasional pushback shift, the Oilers were beaten bloody.  Did they win a single puck battle tonight?
  • The Corsi and shots for were relatively even, but the difference in the game clearly shows in the danger Fenwick number.
  • The reffing was terrible, but can’t blame the refs for this one.  I sense another battle-drills-til-you-puke day of practice coming up.

Shot Type and Distance

SA, SF, SF% – Shots For, Against, %; DIST F, A – Average shot distance for and against; REB F, A – rebound shots for and against.

The average MIN shot was from 45 ft away, while the Oilers shots averaged 46 ft away, or 2% farther.  The histograms below show the breakdown by distance range.  Minnesota took a ton of long distance shots, probably to set up the front-of-net scramble.
